Hong Kong Island

Victoria Peak, heritage trams and the city's famous skyline

About Hong Kong Island

Hong Kong Island is where the city's story began. Skyscrapers in Central rise straight from the harbour, while the narrow streets of Sheung Wan still smell of dried seafood and incense from Man Mo Temple. Double-decker trams — nicknamed ding-dings — rattle along the north shore, one of the cheapest sightseeing rides anywhere.

Head up Victoria Peak for the classic view, then cross to the quieter south side for Repulse Bay's beach, Stanley Market and Aberdeen's sampans. Hikers love the Dragon's Back trail, and families spend a full day at Ocean Park.
