Macau by bridge
The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge is one of the world's longest sea crossings. Take a bus or taxi to the Hong Kong Port near the airport, clear immigration, then ride the 24-hour cross-bridge shuttle bus to Macau — about 40 minutes on the bridge.
Macau by ferry
Fast ferries run from the Hong Kong–Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan and the China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui to Macau's Outer Harbour and Taipa terminals, taking about an hour. Some ferries also run directly from the airport's SkyPier for transfer passengers.
Tips for Macau
- Bring your passport — Macau has separate immigration
- Hong Kong dollars are accepted, but change is often given in patacas
- Free resort shuttle buses link the ports with Cotai and the peninsula
- Visit the Historic Centre early in the morning to avoid crowds
Shenzhen and Guangzhou
High-speed trains from West Kowloon Station reach Shenzhen Futian in under 20 minutes and Guangzhou in about an hour. You can also take the MTR East Rail Line to the Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau border crossings. Check mainland visa rules for your nationality, set up a mainland-compatible payment app before you go, and note that some websites and apps used elsewhere may not work in mainland China.
